Peru Gives Political Asylum To Maduro Rosales

Peru government today gave political asylum to the opposition leader of Venezuela. Peru’s foreign minister said that this action would not strain their relationship with Venezuela. Maduro Rosales is accused of corruption charges in his country and has fled and taken shelter in Peru on the understanding that he is being framed, and calls the accusation a “political lynching” ordered by the now president of Venezuela. He was granted asylum on humanitarian grounds. He had gone into hiding three weeks ago and his party claims that he was being harassed and that they feared for his safety. Venezuela denies that the charges are politically motivated.
